Often my Readings are pretty straightforward. The client asks a question or decides on an area of their life to look at, I choose an appropriate card layout and we go from there. It’s pretty smooth sailing.
But occasionally, Spirit has something else in mind regarding my client and their queries and redirects the Reading, sometimes hijacking the Reading completely. This can get a variety of reactions from my clients ranging from surprise to mild annoyance - depending on what Spirit has to say. And by Spirit I mean my client’s Higher Self.
What happens is that after cards have been chosen and placed in sequential order (as per the layout) the story that unfolds is not applicable to the question itself. A good example is if asking about potential romance with another, all cards instead point back to the client and what are the barriers or unhealed wounds needing to be addressed to move in the direction of love (usually via self-love) first. Or if a client asks about their work and current/future finances, Spirit instead discusses the restrictive and outdated belief systems and past traumas that have created blocks to abundance within this person that must first be released so space may be created for the Universe to fill with…money and success.
And Spirit doesn’t ‘hint’ or ‘suggest’ or ‘kinda mention’ what the issues are, nor does it ‘quietly suggest’ possible actions to be considered. It states the status quo as is - straight up. It demands to be listened to and heard. It provides ideas for solutions quickly and without pretense. You can almost hear my client’s Angels and Guides sighing with relief when certain truths are spoken and given space to breathe around my client.
Now, my client’s responses vary, depending on how much inner-reflection or shadow work they have previously done, and are willing to do, moving forward. It also depends on how much responsibility for their life and their actions they are willing to conceive. Unfortunately it is still the case that sometimes a client may just want to be told what to do, instead of owning their part in their life’s creation and healing. They want a quick fix. They may wish to not have to create their life at all but for external sources to make life just ‘happen’ to them - thus denouncing all self-empowerment or responsibility for what occurs.
The amount of transparent communication and flow of information for this client then becomes a direct reflection on how much they are open to personal change and transformation. They need to open the door for Spirit to walk through - even though Spirit is knocking really loud and hard!
Now when I speak of ‘Spirit’ I am referring to the Universe, yes. But I am also referring to the client’s connection with Source (Spirit/Universe) - which is their Higher Self (HS). A person’s Higher Self stays connected to Source energy always and sits continuously in the truths of ‘love is all there really is’ and ‘compassion reigns supreme’. Our Higher Self is always in contact with us via our emotions (a key indicator as to whether we are in or out of alignment). It is more accurate to state that a Reading being hijacked is our HS wanting us to get a big clear picture - to provide us with clarity so that we can move toward alignment. Our Angels and Guides can also play key roles in relaying information too.
There is also the premise that any Reading is truly a connection to, and response from, our HS. And the appearance of a Reading being ‘hijacked’ is really our HS strongly requesting that we finally listen. Most likely our HS has been trying to point out this information through various means but was unable to connect. Often this happens due to us being so good at keeping ourselves eternally busy and distracted, so signs and communications go unnoticed.
Yet free-will is always the bottom line. The foundation with which we were created and provided our power to recreate in the Universe’s essence. The choice to grow and expand is always ours to make and activate.
I still do my best to address my client’s original questions, indeed the information provided by Spirit is often the perfect foundation so that I may provide answers with clearer, more defined boundaries and outcomes.
At the end of a Reading often my client’s state that they had a feeling the cards would relay the potential of events unfolding as was indicated. This is a clear indication that the client’s HS has already been communicating the answers they seek, yet perhaps the client does not have practice or confidence in trusting their inner-voice.
Trusting your inner-guidance is really partnering with your Higher Self to get the work done here that you said (prior to incarnating) you wanted to do, to achieve. It takes persistence, practise and the release of ego. Ego will always want to resist change and keep you safe. (And by safe I mean stuck.) So the negative self-talk, degrading beliefs and sabotaging strategies (procrastination!) all need to go. What you experience after releasing all of this ‘stuff’ that we had assumed was ‘our personality’ then gives way to experiencing our genuine and authentic self - a direct reflection in our current reality of our Higher Self! It’s pretty magical. Letting go of all this ‘stuff’ is known as Shadow Work, Healing, Releasing, Ego Death. It’s all very, very good. And meeting your Higher Self (again) feels like coming home. You become so at ease within your body, what you personally stand for, and how you express yourself. You become almost untouchable and unshakeable as you begin to stand fully rooted in your core self - the Higher Self.
Receiving unexpected guidance during a Reading is a timely reminder that there is so much to our lives beneath the surface of our everyday experience of it. That we owe it to ourselves to keep our eyes and our minds open to almost infinite communication, possibilities, solutions and depth. Asking the question is very brave…but remaining open, with grace and humility, in the face of the answer - now that is truly brave indeed.
