Different Psychic Reader Types & Approaches (how to choose who is best for you)

October 7, 2022

A reading that will provide true insight will have depth, context, a defined modality layout and, by the end, will facilitate greater awareness of yourself and your life situation.

In recognizing how to choose a reader who is best for you, it’s a positive to know what type of reading you are searching for. Do you like tarot, coffee cup or tea leaf readings? Do you have a preference for Psychics who work on psychic ability alone or Readers who combine talents – such as a Psychic/Intuitive Tarot Reader?

There is also the opportunity to choose between in-person readings, online (Zoom or video call), phone or email readings. There are Medical Intuitives, those who only communicate with your Guides for answers and some that channel Spirit/Source directly. In today’s world your selection of choice is as varied as the Reader types located out there. The intuitive world really can be your oyster!

A reading that will provide true insight will have depth, context, a defined modality layout and, by the end, will facilitate greater awareness of yourself and your life situation.

Just like the ancient scribings on the Temple of Delphi, it’s best to ‘know thyself’. Where in your life do you want to acquire more defined information? Maybe you need to make a career choice or gain clarity on family matters or want to make a purchase and bring to light any mysterious pros/cons?

Knowing your conscious motives, where you’re coming from (mentally/emotionally) and a rough awareness on some possible options to consider are all great starting points. You can use these as a foundation to inspire your questions or to hone your focus as you shuffle the cards.

It’s great to ask some ‘prep questions’ of yourself as part of your Reader reconnaissance, such as:

*Do you need confirmation on the workings of your past with insight and clarity on your present, but prefer to make those big-move decisions yourself?

*Do you want an all-rounder reading, including perspective on your past, clarity into the present and advice on the current most-likely future?

*Do you not want to know tooooo much of the heavy, reality stuff and just want to have fun and be entertained? (sounds good to me!)

I find most readers fall into the above categories. All Reader types are completely valid and a ton of fun. I recommend to have a read of products offered then you’ll have a better awareness on asking the best questions for you.

*What’s your life-situation question? What area (or areas) of your life do you want to focus on? If you’re after specifics then a reader providing general readings only, or the same card layout every reading, may not be for you.

*Go with YOUR intuition. This is also a trust process of self. Don’t just decide based on who is famous, who has a big fancy website, who is top of your Google search - definitely keep these points in mind, as they do hint at possible high-quality product, but, at the end of your decision-making process, your choice is best based on what you ‘feel’ toward this Reader, who gives you ‘good vibes’.

Selecting a Tarot Reader is a bit like selecting any type of therapist. Some you will align with (and thus feel at ease with) while others will leave you detached and cold. It’s all about resonance – locating someone who is on a similar wavelength - energetically - to yourself and so can provide insight that you feel at peace with. This isn’t about the whole ‘good vibes only’ trend, but about who has a technique that feels safe and comforting.

When you feel relaxed and safe, you open up. This ‘opening’ pertains to all parts of you – your body (your muscles relax and blood flow increases), mind (you create a space mentally willing to receive new or perceived opposing information), chakras (the chakras begin to realign - even slightly - in response to the surrounding energetic synergy), and auric field (the energetic organism as a whole begins to respond positively to the presence of internal/external homeostasis).

An opening of your energy field allows a good reader to scan, read and construct the story of your cards, as well as information received by Spirit, with greater accuracy, definition and speed. It helps everybody. As you release perceived control and allow the Universal flow of love to support the reading you step into the ‘art of allowing’. From this connection point your Guides, Angels and Ancestors can more easily take the reins of information delivered and convey what’s important for you and your spiritual journey right now.

There is always only the present moment - we live each minute of our lives only in the present moment. Often our perception of our past is distorted by handed-down, outdated beliefs and so remains inaccurate, and the future is never set in stone (thank you free-will!).

However you are the only one who has complete consciousness and direction over how and when you feel safe. This is specific to your trauma history and triggers, personal fears, and constructed personality. A person who has done limited shadow work and holds a lot of unreleased fears will be a great deal less at ease in any situation (even a safe one) rather than a person who has previously addressed and processed a lot of their accumulated trauma.

A quality Reader will be able to put you at ease and interpret your questions from the point of you asking, through to the clairvoyant-method used, and finally explaining and expanding on the answers received. Clarity, information and awareness are what you are there for and the right Psychic reader for you will be able to provide these elements.

A Psychic Reading is guided by Spirit, with the Reader being the medium for Spirit’s messages. Your Higher-Self will always seek to guide you to your highest path in this life and so your reading may have elements of warnings, requests of shadow work and no-nonsense guidance. Often these parts arrive alongside information of the promise of new things and better circumstances. We live in a world of both light and shadow and we cannot escape the reality of our conflicting world/realm. The path to enlightenment is best sought moving through the darkness rather than avoiding it.

Attempting to take a short cut on our spiritual journey, and thus demanding that a Reader tell us ‘what to do’ instead of listening to the truth from Spirit is going to provide grey results at best. The answers will be unclear, foggy and feel unwanted as we are not present for the highest version of support Spirit wants to provide in that moment. We are, in a way, blocking the information. Sometimes it’s a case of surrendering what you thought you needed to hear in view of what Spirit feels is most pressing for us to be aware of currently. Often it’s a lot of information coming through and the need to sit with what was received and absorb the answers are the best course of action to really heighten awareness and gain further clarity and understanding.

Due to our past actions, beliefs and desires there are often three most-likely paths that we have created. One path is the short-term easier, lesser version for yourself, one is the ideal path that the higher-self is calling you toward and the last is a combination of both – a picture of your unresolved trauma and desires guiding the outcomes and results.

The more reflection you have on life areas you wish to ask about and the clearer your desires or needs, the greater depth of detail a reading is able to provide you. And the greater level of peace that may be attained as a result.

To the level that you ‘know’ yourself, you will be better placed to ‘know’ if your reader is a good selection. You will overall feel comfortable in their presence and accepting of their process and chosen modalities.

A good point to note is that Mediums are not specifically Psychics or Tarot Readers. These services may be combined throughout the reading or kept completely separate per service. If you are after speaking with deceased loved-ones, it’s a good idea to confirm this with the Reader during the booking process.

There are no right or wrong paths toward your ideal Intuitive Reader. All paths lead us to our best life circumstance to learn what we need to at that given time. Ultimately all paths take us to our purpose. It’s a case of whether you want to take the long or the short journey. (Keep in mind that the longer journey may take you over several lifetimes if you so choose!)

And remember that your selection doesn’t have to be a completely rational process. Allow your intuition to guide you, after all, it takes two to tango.

This is your reading - own it!
